Jennifer Pahlka is the founder of Code for America, an organization that has software engineers volunteer 1 year at a local government.

We found out about Code For America when Yang attended Web 2.0 2011. It is one of the most interesting stories we really wanted to put in Design & Thinking!

Web 2.0 was in March, so it was before we even started making D&T. We did do a small interview at their booth if you want to learn about them in a few minutes:

Few weeks ago she showed up on TED Talk. It is really the effort of challenging presumptions and pushing cultures as different as the Government and the Silicon Valley together to experiment, that we excitedly put them in our film.

“We just need to remember we’re not just consumers. We’re citizens.” A great quote that states the turning point we face now! And quite inspiring for different types of culture, since this is one big experiment definitely not fitted to all.
